Bansko Ski Holiday Cost: 2026/27 Budget Guide

How much does a ski holiday in Bansko cost? At last season's prices, 5 ski days for two adults come to roughly €1,380 to €1,520, and for a family with two children aged 7 to 11 roughly €1,970 to €2,230. That covers lift passes, equipment rental, a return private transfer from Sofia and food, but not flights or accommodation. An adult day pass cost €59 in the 2025/26 high season; 2026/27 prices have not been published yet. Below is the budget line by line, with a source for every price.

Bansko lift pass prices

The Bansko lift company had not published 2026/27 prices by late September 2026; the full list has recently appeared close to the season opening in December. Until then, these are the official 2025/26 high season prices, valid 27 December 2025 to 31 March 2026, including VAT and mountain insurance.

Multi day passes barely save money: 5 days cost €285, only €10 less than five day passes. Children under 7 pay €0.60 a day when accompanied, with proof of age, and one adult can accompany up to two of them. There is no separate night skiing ticket on the official price list. Early season was cheaper last year (€33.23 a day from 14 December 2025, with only three runs open), and April costs €45 a day or €217 for 5 days, with less reliable snow low down. Check the official site again in early December 2026.

Ski and snowboard rental prices in Bansko

Based on last season's price lists from two rental shops in town:

• Basic adult ski set: about €12 to €15 a day, or about €69 for a 5 day package.
• Premium adult set: about €18 to €25 a day.
• Child set: about €10 to €13 a day, or about €43 for 5 days.
• Adult snowboard set: about €14 to €17 a day.
• Helmet: about €3 a day. Ski jacket and trousers: about €11 to €14 a day.

Some shops discount online bookings, and bringing your own ski clothing saves around €60 per person per week.

Ski lesson prices in Bansko

The resort ski school publishes an official price list: in 2025/26 a half day group lesson cost €40 for adults and €32 for children, a full day in a group €56 and €48, and a half day private lesson €105 for one adult or €94 for one child. 2026/27 prices are not out yet. Alternatively, you can book a 2 hour ski or snowboard lesson in Bansko with an instructor who teaches in Hebrew or English, for beginners and advanced skiers of all ages, from €145. The booking page prices it per participant, so it adds up for a family; it is best value for young children and complete beginners.

Getting from Sofia to Bansko: transfer or bus

The drive takes about two and a half hours on a normal day, longer in snow. A private transfer from Sofia to Bansko starts from about €168 per vehicle one way, so roughly €335 return, split across everyone in the car. Buses leave Sofia Central Bus Station for Bansko, taking about 2.5 to 3 hours for around €10 to €15 per person each way according to ticket booking sites. That is far cheaper for a couple travelling light, but from the airport you first have to reach the bus station.

Food prices on the mountain and in town

There is no official price list, so treat this as our estimate. A meal in a mehana, a traditional tavern in town, runs about €15 to €20 per person with drinks. On the mountain the same meal costs noticeably more, so we budget €35 to €45 per adult per day and €20 to €30 per child. Packing snacks and sandwiches saves money and the lunchtime queue.

Ski insurance checklist

Your lift pass includes mountain insurance, but it does not replace travel insurance. Make sure your policy covers winter sports (and snowboarding), mountain rescue and helicopter evacuation, medical treatment in Bulgaria and repatriation, third party liability, damage or theft of equipment including rentals, refunds of unused lift passes and lessons after injury, and off piste skiing if you plan to leave the marked runs.

• Return private transfer: from €335 per vehicle.
• Food: about €550 to €750.
• Total: about €1,970 to €2,230 per family. A child under 7 cuts their pass to €2.70.

How to save money on a Bansko ski trip

• Non skiers only need a gondola return ticket (€27 adult), not a full day pass.
• A half day pass from 12:30 cost €46 instead of €59.
• January and March are calmer than the Christmas holidays and February, for the same lift price.
• Book rental online and compare six day prices.
• Pack lunch, eat dinner in town.
• A season pass (promotional €869 adult if bought 1 October to 13 December last year) only pays off for about three weeks of skiing or more.
