From Bansko: Melnik & Rozhen Monastery: A Wine & Heritage Day Trip

Nestled in the picturesque mountains, this spiritual haven boasts stunning frescoes, ancient iconostasis, and centuries of history. Then, we immerse ourselves in the wine traditions of Melnik. Nestled among stunning red rock pyramids at the foot of the Pirin Mountains, this open-air museum has been producing legendary wines since the 14th century. You will visit a historic Wine Villa to explore authentic wine cellars and see where the magic happens. During a guided wine tasting session, you will sample Melnik's famous full-bodied wines with their unique local character. After working up an appetite, we stop for a traditional Bulgarian lunch in a cozy local restaurant. Following lunch, you will have free time to wander the cobbled streets of Melnik, admire its unique fortress-like houses, and shop for local wine and souvenirs for friends and family.
