Spa in Sofia for Couples: Hammam, Massage and Prices
Spa in Sofia for couples: a hammam ritual, couples massage and private spa suites, with real 2026 prices, age rules and how to plan the evening.

For a spa in Sofia for couples, the easiest choice is Victoria Spa at the Ramada hotel, 131 Maria Luiza Boulevard. The spa calls its Turkish bath the largest hammam in Sofia, and next to it you get a 25 metre indoor pool, saunas and a salt room. Our Victoria spa and hammam package costs €125 per person, so €250 for two, and covers a 30 minute hammam, a 60 minute classic massage, access to the pool and thermal area, and a one way ride from your hotel. Prefer a quieter hotel spa? Grand Hotel Millennium, Sense Hotel and Hyatt Regency all run their own, and you will find what matters about each below.

All prices are in euro: Bulgaria adopted the euro on 1 January 2026. Our prices were read from our booking system on 18 October 2026, and the price shown when you book is the one that counts. Spa desk prices are the venues' own, as published on their websites the same day, and they can change.
Spa in Sofia: day spa or hotel spa
Sofia's historic Central Mineral Baths are a museum now, so a spa in the city means one of two things: a large spa centre open to anyone, or the spa of a five star hotel. Here is how they compare, based on what each one publishes:
| Spa | Facilities | Hours | Entry without a treatment |
|---|---|---|---|
| Victoria Spa, Ramada hotel | 25 x 12 m indoor pool with a built in jacuzzi, two saunas, steam bath, two Turkish baths, salt room, summer garden bar | Daily 07:00 to 22:00 | €25 on weekdays, €30 on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays, up to 3 hours |
| Millennium Spa, Grand Hotel Millennium | 3,500 sq m with views of Vitosha, salt water pool, hot tubs, panoramic Finnish sauna, infrared sauna, herbal sauna, steam bath, hammam | Daily 10:00 to 20:00, treatments 11:00 to 19:00 | €49, up to 3 hours |
| Sense Wellness, Sense Hotel | ESPA face and body treatments, pool, hot and cold tubs | Daily 09:00 to 20:00 | Not published; treatments by prior booking only |
| Ortus Wellness, Hyatt Regency | Per the hotel's listings: hammam, hydrotherapy pool, saunas, steam room, salt room. Check before you go | Check with the hotel | Check with the hotel |
The real difference is the mood. Victoria is a big centre that locals use too: it has a 400 sq m gym, a children's pool and swimming lessons for kids throughout the day, so the pool is not always calm. Millennium Spa calls itself a noise free zone, with phones on silent and voices kept low. If you want the most pool, sauna and hammam for your money, choose Victoria. If you want quiet and a view, choose Millennium. The Sense and Hyatt spas make most sense paired with a night at the hotel.
Hammam in Sofia: what happens in the ritual
A hammam is a Turkish steam bath, and in Sofia the ritual usually runs like this: you warm up for about ten minutes on heated marble, then a therapist scrubs you with a kese, a glove woven from silk threads that lifts off dead skin. Next comes a mountain of olive oil soap foam, a foam massage, and a wash of your body and hair. You leave with very soft skin and a strong urge to nap.
Victoria has a detailed hammam menu. All prices below are per person, from their website:
- Kese scrub, 45 minutes: €40, including a 20 minute gentle wash with natural soap.
- Victoria Spa special peeling, 60 minutes: €56, with the scrub, a 20 minute foam massage, a hair wash, a head massage and a drink.
- "Oriental Tale", 90 minutes: €82. A Moroccan ritual with black soap, kese, a clay body mask and an oil massage.
- "Pasha" massage, 60 minutes: €86. A four hands massage by two therapists inside the hammam, with scented foam.
Millennium's hammam costs more: a 40 minute kese scrub is €95 and the hammam ritual with salts and aromatic oils is €115. There is also the Hammam Ritual Millennium, 40 minutes in the hammam for €95, which you can follow with a 20, 40 or 60 minute massage for €50 to €90 extra, depending on length. One thing couples should know: a hammam treatment is usually individual, each of you with your own therapist. If you want a hammam just for the two of you, book a private spa suite.
Couples spa in Sofia: couples massage and private spa suites
The most private way to do a couples spa in Sofia is to rent a spa suite for two, with a hammam, sauna and jacuzzi that only you use.
Victoria's private suite
Victoria has a private spa suite with a hammam for two, a jacuzzi for two, a sauna, two massage beds, a Thai massage bed, reflexology chairs and its own shower and toilet. Rental is €76 for one hour, €133 for two hours and €184 for three, priced for the suite, not per person. The price list does not say massages are included, so if you want a couples massage in the suite, ask when you book.
Millennium's spa suites
Millennium has three private spa suites, each for up to four people: Damascena, 75 sq m and inspired by the Bulgarian rose, with a steam bath and jacuzzi; Jasmine, 95 sq m with a Finnish sauna and jacuzzi; and Orchid, 115 sq m in Thai style with a fireplace and mountain view. According to the spa menu they start at €250 for two hours, and every suite booking includes access to the thermal and aqua areas. Suites must be booked in advance.
There is also a ready made package for two: a suite for up to 4 hours, the "Five Elements" voyage through the thermal area, aromatherapy for two and wine with fruit, for €455 per couple. It is the most expensive option in this guide, and the only one where you plan nothing at all.
How much a spa day in Sofia costs for two
| What | Price for two |
|---|---|
| Pool and thermal area at Victoria, weekday, up to 3 hours | €50 |
| The same on a Saturday or Sunday | €60 |
| Thermal and aqua area at Millennium, up to 3 hours | €98 |
| Our Victoria package: hammam, 60 minute massage, entry and ride | €250 |
| Victoria's private spa suite, two hours | €133 |
| Millennium's couples package with a suite for up to 4 hours | €455 |
You can also build a Victoria day yourself at the desk: their price list puts a 60 minute classic massage at €46 per person and pool plus thermal entry at €25 on weekdays. With our package, the hammam and massage are already reserved for the time you choose, you have a personal therapist for an hour and a half, and a ride takes you from your hotel or apartment to the spa. Bookings go in as a request at least 24 hours ahead; you pay 20% online and the rest to the host at the end of the service. Victoria's desk charges more on Saturdays and Sundays, so a weekday is cheaper if you have the choice.

- Swimwear: none of these spas publishes separate areas for men and women, so plan on the pool and thermal area being shared and pack swimwear. At Millennium swimwear is required in all public areas, including the relax lounge.
- Swim cap: required in Victoria's pool; you can buy one on site.
- Robe, towel and slippers: provided at Millennium. At Victoria, ask in advance or bring them from your hotel.
- Shower first: Millennium requires a shower before you enter the aqua and thermal areas.
- Arrive early: at least 10 minutes before your slot at Victoria, and 15 minutes at Millennium, where you fill in a health questionnaire. Arriving late shortens your treatment.
- Keep it quiet: phones on silent and low voices, especially at Millennium.
- Food: Millennium does not allow outside food or drink; there is a café inside the spa.
- Cancelling: Millennium lets you cancel a treatment free of charge up to 6 hours before, and asks for a credit card to hold the booking.
A spa without children around: the age rules
Couples who want quiet should know the children's hours. At Victoria, children under 14 may not enter the thermal area, though they can use the pool. At Sense, children under 14 may use only the pool and the tubs, with an adult, between 09:00 and 12:00. At Millennium, children under 16 must be with an adult and may use the aqua area only from 10:00 to 13:00 and 16:00 to 18:00. At the Hyatt, listings for the hotel mention a 09:00 to 12:00 pool window for children under 16; check with the hotel before you go. So our advice: at Millennium aim for early afternoon, 13:00 to 16:00, when children are not allowed in the aqua area, and at Sense any time after 12:00.
Sofia's mineral baths and the hot water fountains
Sofia sits on hot springs, and you see it on Banski Square, next to the Banya Bashi Mosque. The large domed building with colourful ceramic decoration is the Central Mineral Baths. According to the Sofia History Museum, which now occupies it, construction began in 1889, the small bath opened in 1908, and the large bath, with two swimming pools, family tubs and Roman baths, opened on 13 May 1913. The small bath was destroyed in the bombing of 1944, the building closed in 1986, and since 2015 it has housed the Sofia History Museum, with eight halls covering 2,300 sq m.
So you cannot bathe there any more. What you can do is visit the museum, open Tuesday to Sunday according to its website (check hours and ticket prices there before you go), and then walk over to the public taps beside the building. Hot mineral water flows there, free for everyone, and locals fill bottles every day. Bring an empty bottle, and mind the heat of the water.
A couples evening in Sofia: spa, dinner and a hotel night
This is how a couples day in Sofia works well:
- Afternoon, spa: three hours in the pool and the hammam. Victoria is open until 22:00 and Millennium until 20:00.
- Evening, dinner: somewhere with a view over the city. We sorted the options in restaurants with a view in Sofia.
- Night, hotel: stay at a hotel with its own spa and go back to the pool in the morning.
Three of the hotels we work with in Sofia have a proper spa: Grand Hotel Millennium Sofia on Vitosha Boulevard, Sense Hotel Sofia near Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, and Hyatt Regency Sofia on Vasil Levski Square. You will find all our hotels in Sofia in one list, and a full comparison of the city's hotels, spa hotels included, in our guide to hotels in Sofia. Flying in for the weekend? A transfer from Sofia Airport to the city centre costs from €30 per private car for up to 4 passengers, about 25 minutes.
Valentine's Day in Sofia
14 February 2027 falls on a Sunday, which means weekend prices: Victoria's entry is €30 on Saturdays and Sundays, and Millennium's suites have a separate Friday to Sunday rate. In Bulgaria the same day is also Trifon Zarezan, the feast of wine growers, so a bottle of Bulgarian wine suits the evening perfectly. Book a private suite weeks ahead.
Beyond Sofia: hot springs within a drive
Want to soak in real mineral water? For that you leave the city. Rila's spa town of Sapareva Banya is the closest, with a geyser and thermal pools. Our nature and spa day from Sofia, €40 per person, takes in Kopitoto, Pancharevo Lake and Iskar Reservoir on the way and stops at the thermal pools in Sapareva Banya. It is booked for exactly four guests, so it suits two couples together, and the listing does not say whether pool entry is included, so ask the host. Further south, Pulse Therme Banya near Bansko is the heart of a Bansko spa day from Sofia, and we compare every Bulgarian spa town in our guide to hot springs in Bulgaria.
The bottom line
For a couple who want a spa in Sofia without leaving the city, Victoria at the Ramada gives you what it calls the city's largest hammam and a big pool for the lowest price, and Millennium is the place for quiet, a view and a private suite. Pick a weekday, come in the afternoon when there are fewer children, pack swimwear, and end the evening with a good dinner and a hotel that has its own spa. If you want everything arranged in advance, our Victoria package covers the hammam, the massage and the ride.
