Stag Do in Sofia: A Practical Weekend Planning Guide
Planning a stag do in Sofia? Off-road buggies by day, a dinner show and a club table at night, one airport van, real prices and how to dodge bill scams.

A stag do in Sofia works best as a three-night weekend: land, put the whole group in one van from the airport, spend an afternoon tearing around in off-road buggies on the edge of the city, then a dinner show followed by a club with a reserved table. Bulgaria's capital uses the euro, its centre is compact enough that nobody gets lost between bars, and the prices are easy to plan around. You can book each part separately, or hand the whole weekend to our Sofia bachelor party host. This guide explains exactly what each price covers, what it adds up to per person, and how to avoid the inflated bills that catch stag groups out.

All prices are in euro: Bulgaria adopted the euro on 1 January 2026. Our prices were read from our booking system on 18 October 2026, and the price shown when you book is the one that counts. For every activity in this guide you can pay 20% online and the rest to the host at the end of the service.
Why Sofia for a stag do
- Everything is close: the airport is about 10 km from the centre, roughly 25 minutes by car, and most restaurants, bars and clubs sit in the centre.
- Euro and Schengen: you pay in euro, and Bulgaria has been a full member of the Schengen area since 1 January 2025.
- Day and night in one city: off-road driving on the edge of town, Vitosha mountain above the rooftops, and nights that run from a dinner show to a club.
- What it is not: Sofia is not a beach city, winters are cold, and nights start late: the club bookings we sell have a 23:30 start.
A stag weekend in Sofia: a three-night plan
A sample Thursday to Sunday, built around the times in our bookings. Shift the pieces to fit your flights:
- Thursday, arrival: van from the airport, a shower, then a dinner show. The venues we book open at 20:30.
- Friday: a slow breakfast, off-road buggies in the afternoon, then a club. The shuttle leaves your hotel around 23:30 and you should be inside by midnight.
- Saturday: an easy day in town, then a cocktail bar or a second club.
- Sunday: late breakfast and the airport.
When to go: any time of year. Summer evenings are long and warm; winter is cold and muddy, which only improves the buggies. At CLWD, according to the booking page, Thursday is a mainstream night and Saturday is techno, so pick the night that suits the groom.
Stag do activities in Sofia: off-road buggies
The daytime activity we sell in Sofia is an off-road tour in open 210 horsepower side-by-side buggies on dirt tracks and mud, with zero tarmac, a driver guide on board and the option to drive yourself. The meeting point is in the village of German, on the south-eastern edge of Sofia, about 12 km from the centre as the crow flies. There is no hotel pickup, so take a taxi or drive.
- 80 minute off-road buggy tour: €100 per person.
- 120 minute off-road buggy tour: €150 per person.
Good to know: each booking takes up to 3 people, so a group of 8 needs several bookings; ask the host first how many vehicles can go out at the same time. Bring ID and sportswear, kit is provided, book at least 24 hours ahead, and cancellation is free up to 24 hours before. And two common sense rules: whoever drives doesn't drink first, and wear clothes you don't mind ruining.
Nights out: dinner shows, a cocktail bar and club tables
Our evenings are run by a local host with 12 years in Sofia's nightlife who speaks English, Bulgarian and Russian. Read the price carefully, because it is not the cost of the night: every booking below is priced per person and covers one-way transport from your hotel or apartment plus a reserved table. The clubs and the bar also include fast-track entry. Food and drinks are not included and are paid at the venue. All venues are 18+.
| Venue | What it is | Per person | Included | Opens |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Djanam Sky | Restaurant with live shows and city views | €10 | One-way transport, reserved table | 20:30 |
| C'est La Vie | Show restaurant with singers and dancers | €15 | One-way transport, reserved table | 20:30 |
| The Rococo Bar | Cocktail bar with a lavish interior | €15 | One-way transport, fast-track entry, table | 23:30 |
| CLWD Club | Big club, formerly EXE, with DJs | €30 | One-way transport, fast-track entry, table | 23:30 |
| Megami Club | Balkan party and chart hits | €30 | One-way transport, fast-track entry, table | 23:30 |
Three questions to ask the host before you confirm: does the table carry a minimum spend or a compulsory bottle (common in many clubs, and our bookings don't state an amount), how do you get back at the end of the night (the transport is one way, to the venue), and what is the dress code that evening. For the wider scene, from techno clubs to live music, see our Sofia nightlife guide. If dinner is the main event, there is also our guide to restaurants with a view in Sofia.
A host for the whole weekend: what the €30 covers
The bachelor party host booking costs €30 per person, for groups of up to 10. That is a planning and concierge fee, not the party. According to the booking page it covers building your programme, help finding accommodation and personal service through the day, with a contact person available to the group until you walk into the evening venue. Accommodation, transport, activities, club bills and personal extras are not included: anything the host arranges for you, from tables to transport, is paid separately. It suits a group that wants someone else to hold the schedule, less so one happy to plan from this guide.

There is no single price, because most of the money goes on accommodation, food and drinks, which vary hugely between groups. What you can work out in advance is the fixed part. An example for a group of 8, per person, at our prices:
| Item | Per person |
|---|---|
| Airport van both ways (€60 per van each way, split 8 ways) | €15 |
| Dinner show: table and transport only | €10 to €15 |
| Two club nights: table, fast-track entry and transport | €60 |
| Off-road buggies, 80 minutes | €100 |
| Fixed costs in total | €185 to €190 |
| Weekend host, optional | another €30 |
Add accommodation, meals, drinks and taxis on top. Transfer prices change, so check them in the booking box on the day you book.
Getting the group in from the airport, and where to stay
The Sofia airport to city centre transfer starts at €30 for a private car, up to 4 passengers and 2 suitcases, and €60 for a large van, up to 8 passengers and 8 suitcases. For a group of 6 or 8 the system suggests one van; for 10, a van plus a car at €90. The driver meets you in the terminal with a name sign, with up to 60 minutes of free waiting. For taxis at the airport and how to avoid overpaying, see our Sofia airport transfer guide.
Where to sleep: a group of 8 can take a large apartment or several rooms in one hotel. An apartment is cheaper and keeps everyone together, but ordinary buildings have neighbours, and many rentals ban parties in their house rules, so read them before you book. You will find the hotels in Sofia we work with on our site; some have twin rooms with two single beds, which are worth asking for. A central hotel saves on taxis, because most nights start and end there.
Rules and safety on a night out in Sofia
- ID: clubs are 18+, and our bookings ask you to bring valid ID. The UK government advises carrying ID at all times and accepts a printed copy of your passport photo page; for a club door, bring the original.
- Alcohol: Bulgaria's Health Act bans selling alcohol to anyone under 18 and to anyone already drunk. A bartender who stops serving the groom is following the law.
- Smoking: since 1 June 2012 smoking is banned in enclosed public places, which includes restaurants, bars and clubs. Smoke outside.
- Laughing gas: the same law bans nitrous oxide in enclosed public places, with heavy fines, and heavier ones in bars and restaurants.
- Drugs and behaviour: according to the UK government, drugs including cannabis carry severe penalties, and drunk and disorderly behaviour may be treated more seriously than in the UK.
- Drinks: Canada's travel advice says never leave drinks unattended and don't accept drinks, cigarettes or gum from new acquaintances.
- Taxis: licensed taxis only; check the licence sticker and the tariffs on the window before you get in.
Inflated bills: how not to get caught
This is the warning that matters most. According to UK travel advice for Bulgaria, tourists have been overcharged in so-called gentlemen's clubs in Sofia, Bansko, Borovets and Sunny Beach, with bills running to hundreds of pounds and threats of violence for those who refuse to pay. Canada's travel advice warns of overcharging in bars and clubs and notes that organised criminal groups are active in casinos and nightclubs. We don't sell or recommend strip clubs, and this is why. A few rules that keep the weekend on track:
- Don't follow anyone who approaches you in the street with a "better place".
- Ask for a priced menu before ordering, and pay round by round rather than running one tab all night.
- Keep your card in sight: UK advice is to make sure card payments are completed in your presence.
- The US State Department lists ATM skimming and credit card fraud among the most common threats to its citizens in Bulgaria; use cash machines inside bank branches.
- Agree in advance who holds the kitty, and who stays sober enough to check every bill.
One number to save: 112, the emergency number in Bulgaria.
The bottom line
A stag do in Sofia is a short, easy weekend whose fixed costs you can work out in advance: around €185 per person for transfers, tables and buggies, plus accommodation, food and drinks. Book at least 24 hours ahead, ask about table minimums and the ride home, and keep your passport on you. Planning a hen party or a joint one? The dinner shows and the bar work exactly the same way.
