Bansko, Borovets and Pamporovo Webcams and Snow Report

Bansko webcam guide plus Borovets and Pamporovo: the official live cams, what each shows, how to read the snow report and check the roads.

Bansko, Borovets and Pamporovo Webcams and Snow Report

The official Bansko webcam page is on the ski area's own website: seven cameras, from the town at 990 m up to Todorka peak at 2,550 m, and the page reloads every picture once a minute. Borovets runs 11 official cameras, and Pamporovo has three live video streams. To know whether there is really snow, look at three things together: a camera at the bottom against a camera at the top, the snow depth in the official snow report, and how many lifts and runs are open. What a webcam cannot show you, strong wind, ice and queues, you check on the status pages and the road reports before you set off.

We opened and checked every page in this guide on 31 October 2026, including the code of the Bansko webcam page to see how often the pictures change. We link only to the official pages of the resorts and of Bulgaria's Road Infrastructure Agency, and we show no camera images here. On that day none of the three resorts had announced an opening date for the 2026/27 season, and their counters showed zero lifts open. What is known about the opening is in our guides to skiing in Bansko and Borovets.

Bansko webcams: the seven official cameras and what they show

All seven are on the Bansko ski area webcam page. The header of every page on that site also shows snow depth at three points: the town, Banderishka Polyana and Todorka peak. That is the official Bansko snow report, and it is worth reading alongside the pictures.

CameraAltitudeWhat it shows
Bansko990 mThe bottom, at town level: is there snow down low?
Chalin Valog1,200 mThe lower lift area on the Chalin Valog side
Gondola mid station1,470 mHalfway between the town and Banderishka Polyana
Banderishka Polyana1,620 mThe hub of the ski area, top station of the gondola from town
Shiligarnik1,730 mMid mountain
Plato2,200 mThe upper mountain
Todorka2,550 mThe highest point: visibility, cloud and fresh snow up top

According to the page code, the images reload every 60 seconds. A camera can still freeze, though. Look for details that change, such as the light and the sky, and if nothing moves for a long time, do not trust that picture.

Borovets webcams: 11 cameras and wind stations at five heights

The official Borovets webcam page has 11 cameras: two at the ski centre at the bottom, one each on the Sitnyakovo and Yastrebets chairlifts, two on the Popangelov run and its finish line, two at Martinovi Baraki and three at the Markudjik ski centre, the high part of the resort.

The most useful tool in Borovets is actually the official weather page. It has five measuring stations, from the Rila Hotel at 1,350 m to Markudjik at 2,486 m, each with temperature, wind speed in metres per second, snow depth and the time of the last update. On a morning when the top camera looks perfect, the Markudjik station can show strong wind, and then the upper lifts may not run.

The slopes status page is updated every morning at 8:20 and shows for each run whether it is open, closed or partly open, and whether it has been groomed. The footer of every page carries a counter of open lifts and runs: on 31 October it read 0 of 12 lifts and 0 of 31 runs.

Pamporovo webcams: three live video streams

The Pamporovo webcam page has three cameras, and they are live video rather than a still that refreshes. Snezhanka is the summit with the TV tower that the runs come down from. Studenets covers the ski centre area and the lifts up to the summit. Mechi Chal is a separate ski area 1 km south of the town of Chepelare.

On the open slopes page each run is marked for artificial snow. The resort says around 90% of its runs have snowmaking, so a run can be open even when the camera shows bare ground at the sides. Pamporovo has no transfer or experience on our site yet, but the drive, the hotels and what to do there are in our Pamporovo guide.

Bansko snow report: how to read it, and the others too

  • Base depth against top depth. Bansko reports three points and Borovets five. Zero in town and 60 cm up top is normal early in the season: the skiing is high, and you will probably ride the gondola back down. The Bansko lifts and slopes page lists the ski roads to town, and that is where you see whether they are open.
  • New snow. Compare today's depth with yesterday's, and check the resort forecast for how much is due overnight. Fresh snow on a thin base looks great on camera, but there can be rocks underneath.
  • Lifts and runs open. This number says more than depth does. Two lifts open out of twelve means a day of queues, even with a metre of snow.
  • Grooming and snowmaking. A run groomed this morning skis far better than one that is open but untouched. Borovets marks this next to each run, and Pamporovo has an artificial snow column.
  • The update time. A report from last night says nothing about the night itself. Borovets shows the update time next to every station.

What a webcam can't tell you: wind, ice and queues

Wind. A still picture does not show wind, and wind is the usual reason a top lift stays shut on a sunny day. In Borovets, check the wind stations; in Bansko, the wind speed in km/h in the ski area forecast. One sign you can see on camera: snow blowing off the ridges at the top.

Ice. After a warm day and a cold night the piste looks white and shiny on camera, which is exactly when it is hard and fast. Rain in yesterday's forecast plus a frosty night is the giveaway. On 31 October, for example, the Bansko forecast showed light rain in town.

Queues. A base camera shows people, not how long the wait is. When to reach the Bansko gondola for a shorter wait is in our Bansko skiing guide.

Fog and flat light. A top camera inside a cloud looks like a grey screen. That does not mean there is no snow, only that visibility up there is poor and it is better to start lower.

For the usual weather month by month, see our Bansko weather guide, and for when snow normally falls and where to see it, our guide to snow in Bulgaria.

A 10 minute morning check before you ski

  1. The evening before: the wind and snow forecast on the resort site, and the Road Infrastructure Agency evening bulletin on the national roads, usually issued with conditions as at 17:30.
  2. At 7am: the top camera first (Todorka, Markudjik or Snezhanka) for visibility and cloud, then the bottom camera for fresh snow and crowds.
  3. Lift and slope status: how many are open and which. In Borovets, wait for the 8:20 update.
  4. Wind up top: the Borovets stations, the Bansko forecast. Strong wind at the summit means start on the lower runs.
  5. The roads: the live road conditions page and the agency phone line, before you get in the car.
  6. Decide: if the top lifts are shut, make it a lesson morning, a lower slopes morning or a day in town, not a morning in a queue.

Road conditions to Bansko, Borovets and Pamporovo

The official source is Bulgaria's Road Infrastructure Agency: the current road conditions page with closures and restrictions, the interactive road map, and the phone line 0700 130 20. The site is in Bulgarian, but the map is easy to follow without the language, and a browser translation handles the notices.

For Bansko you drive south from Sofia on the motorway and then climb over the Predel pass, which is sometimes closed to lorries in heavy snow. Borovets is reached via the town of Samokov, about 70 km from Sofia. Pamporovo is the longest and twistiest drive of the three, through Asenovgrad and Chepelare. Winter tyres, chains and the rules for driving in snow are in our guide to driving in Bulgaria.

If you would rather not drive in snow, a private transfer from Sofia Airport to Bansko starts from 124 EUR per car, up to 4 passengers, about two hours. A transfer from Sofia to Borovets starts from 77 EUR per car, about an hour and ten minutes. These are the prices we read in our system on 31 October 2026, and the final price depends on your date. You pay 20% online and the rest to the driver at the end of the ride.

Snow looks good? What to book

In Bansko, a two hour ski lesson with an English speaking instructor costs 145 EUR per guest, for beginners and improvers alike. For a bed close to the slopes there is the Kempinski Hotel Grand Arena Bansko. In Borovets, besides the Rila, we also offer the Yastrebets Hotel Wellness & SPA. And after a day on the slopes, our guide to Bansko restaurants tells you where to eat.
